Ed Evans

Edward Evans has accepted an invitation to join the staff of the ITA as Webmaster. Evans is a freelance performer and private teacher in the Atlanta area. He supports his trombone habit with a day job as Technical Account Manager for Internet Security Systems.

Edward studied trombone primarily with John Drew, Paul Welcomer, and Reed Wallace. While attending Florida State University, Edward was co-founder of the trombone quartet "Fore!" which successfully toured the southeastern United States before performing at the Eastern Trombone Workshop in Fort Myer, Virginia with the United States Army Band. "Fore!" received an honorable mention in the Music Educators National Conference regional chamber music competition, and was featured as a showcase ensemble for Florida All-State Band clinics by the Florida Bandmasters Association. Along with fellow trombonists Rebecca Phillips, Michael Piersol, and Brad Wall, the quartet has performed on numerous university recitals, FSU Prism concerts, and promotional videotapes.

A lifetime member of the International Trombone Association, Edward created and nurtured the development of trombone.net until it was sold in 2002. Owner and webmaster of Awesome Trombone Links since 1995, Edward continues his research and collection of trombone pedagogy at AwesomeTromboneLinks.net. He stays plugged in by writing articles, and serving as the trombone editor for the Open Directory Project, the Open Music Project, and the Open Encyclopedia Project. He is a contributing musician at about.com where he is listed in the Musicians' Exchange as a Trombone Expert.

Edward graduated from Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida with a Bachelor's of Music Education in 1997. Prior to this, he received a diploma as a music major in trombone performance from the Alabama School of Fine Arts in Birmingham, Alabama. Edward holds the Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) certification, and is studying to become a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP). He is actively pursuing his MBA at the Keller Graduate School, with the generous support of his wife, Katherine.
