ITA Honors Jan Kagarice & Dick Nash

The International Trombone Association is delighted to announce the winners of the two annual awards bestowed each year on two individuals who have made outstanding and lasting contributions to the world of trombone performance and education.

The ITA Award, presented each year to an individual who has greatly influenced the field of trombone, was awarded this year to Dick Nash. The 2008 Neill Humfeld Award, which recognizes outstanding trombone teaching while honoring the teaching excellence of the late Neill Humfeld, was presented this year to Jan Kagarice. The plaques will be handed over to the winners at the ITF2008 event in Salt Lake City, UT, in May this year.

About ITA Awards

The International Trombone Association has five awards it bestows on individuals and orchestras. The individual awards are the ITA Award, presented every year to an individual who has greatly influenced the field of trombone, the Neill Humfeld Award, which recognizes outstanding trombone teaching in our profession while honoring the teaching excellence of the late Neill Humfeld, the Legacy Circle Award, for unparalleled accomplishments in the trombone community, the Lifetime Achievement Award, for contributions to the trombone profession over a long career, and the fifth award is the Orchestra Recognition Award. This is given to an orchestra which has made a significant contribution to the artistic advancement of trombone performance and literature.
